Stylo G is upbeat about Oh Gosh

During a recent visit to Rochester, in upstate New York, dancehall artiste Stylo G was impressed with the sights and sounds of the city.

This led to him recording the song Oh Gosh, which was produced by DJ Shortman and released in February.

“When I did a show in Rochester, DJ Shortman reached out to me asking if he could DJ for me during my performance. We linked up and the energy was just right. The next day we went to the studio, and next thing you know, we had a song. It was just a natural vibe,” Stylo G explained in an interview with the Jamaica Observer.

He shared the inspiration behind the song.

“The inspiration behind Oh Gosh I think is definitely just going into a new part of New York and going to the United States. I had to make a nice song, because it was just a nice place, the atmosphere was just right,” said Stylo G.

He added, “It was just good energy and it was right. We recorded the song at a studio in Rochester and the song pretty much speaks for itself.”

The feedback to the song, he said, has been positive.

“The feedback has been great, the streaming and the views are going up. DJs have been requesting the song on dub plate, and there are also several videos created on TikTok. I am very pleased,” he shared.

Stylo G, real name Jason McDermott was born in Spanish Town. He moved to the United Kingdom as a teenager and travels between the UK and Jamaica several times each year.

In 2014 he won the MOBO Award for Best Reggae Act. Among his hit songs are Touch Down (with Nicki Minaj and Vybz Kartel), Soundbwoy(which charted on the UK Official Singles chart), Badd, Call Me a Leader, Move Back and Dumpling.
