Diel shines a Spotlight on the Beauty of Melanated Skin’

Jamaican Musician Diel Releases visuals for his roots reggae single ‘Pretty Melanin’ an anthem of empowerment for the black woman.

Hot on the heels of the Black Lives Matter and Challenge Accepted social movements, Diel has delivered another message strong anthem for women in ‘Pretty Melanin,” this time paying tribute to the unique molecule that gives pigment to the skin. The once unappreciated melanin is the subject of his praise, and his beautifully written lyrics explore nuances that uplift and glorify the black woman.

Crooning in a style reminiscent of reggae great Garnet Silk, his smooth falsetto vocals bring to life the “joy” of which he sings. This follow up to “Majesty” is produced by Dwain ‘Wiya’ Campbell, and is a tribute to authentic roots reggae – to positivity, Afrocentrism and love.

Speaking of his inspiration behind the song, Diel says, “ Even though I am a new artiste, I am at a place mentally where I want to release music that will last past my lifetime. So in sitting down and writing this song, I looked carefully at all that is going on, and thought about what I would want to say to my daughter. Although she is not born yet, it is a love song to her… and really to every woman that can connect with and appreciate the message.”

The anthem is brought to life perfectly by Ikon Media. Diel’s childhood friends turned partners, produced stunning visuals showcasing the range and beauty of the “melanated” woman by using a simple, but creatively profound concept. It’s easy to see what has so captivated the singer to bring this piece of art into being, this anthem is one for the musical history books.
